Silk, sunshine and Grand Seiko. The Shinshu Watch Studio, where this Grand Seiko quartz watch is made, takes its name from the ancient name for Nagano, an area in the mountains of central Japan that has always been famed for its light, durable and colorful silks. The sunray pattern dial has a silken shimmer that speaks of Shinshu’s roots and culture.
Because this delicate pattern can only be drawn with silver, which is soer than brass, a special handcraft technique is used to create its silver plating, whereas the pattern is usually pressed by machine directly on brass.
