Grand Seiko boutiques in Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Seiko Boutique in London are now displaying windows themed on “Moon reflected in a sake cup," inspired by a Japanese custom of viewing the moon in autumn, until November 20th.
In Japan, there is a long held custom of loving the moon. In the past, especially in autumn, when there is a beautiful moon because of the clear air, people enjoyed viewing the moon to pray and express their gratitude for a good harvest. Looking at the moon reflected on the water of a pond or in a sake cup are also ways of enjoying the beautiful moon in autumn.
